Lent is our time to enter the desert with Christ. As Catholics we have so many beautiful and challenging practices to make the most of Lent. Our primary goal of holiness during this season will lead us to a stronger relationship with our Savior. What are you going to do this Lenten Season to grow in your faith?
Ash Wednesday (Feb 16) and Good Friday (April 2) are days of Fast and Abstinence.
All Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence.
A Fast is for all adults age 18 to 59. On days of fast a person is allowed one full meal and two other meals that are sufficient to maintain, but the two other meals when put together should not be equal to the one full meal. Eating between meals is prohibited, but liquids including milk or juices may be taken.
All children who have completed their 14th year are bound by the Law of Abstinence. On days of Abstinence no meat is to be eaten. When for health reasons (or your ability to work would be seriously affected) the law does not oblige you.
Walk the Way of the Cross: To nourish your Lent, we offer the Stations of the Cross at all three parishes in our pastorate. Please join us as we ponder the mysteries of Christ’s Passion and Death.
Reconciliation & Parish Penance Service: Lent is the perfect time to make a good Confession. There is nothing more freeing than having our sins forgiven. Watch the pastorate calendar for opportunities this Lent to make a good Confession. And then… bring your family!
Adoration: We have many opportunities to spend in prayer during Adoration. Watch the bulletin for particular times at all of our parishes - or visit the Adoration Chapel in the St. Elizabeth House (8am-midnight daily) at St. Mary Parish.
Little Black Books: Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for providing the Little Black Books to help our Lenten journey. Please take one home and share this with your family.
God bless,
Fr. Eric Underwood

On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday: Everyone of age 18 to 59 must fast, unless exempt due to usually a medical reason.
Beginning Feb 13 & 14, the following prayer will be prayed before all Sunday Masses in our pastorate in honor of the Year of St. Joseph
PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH St. Joseph, vicar of the Holy Spirit In fulfilling the duties of your wonderful marriage with Mary, Introduce the Holy Spirit to my will In order to ignite it with God’s holy love. Present my will to the Most Holy Trinity So that my desires may always be at God’s disposal. Offer my heart to God So that He may dwell in it As on a throne of love and mercy. Present the movements of my soul And all the affections of my heart to God So that through your intercession I will always be faithful To the grace and inspirations of the Holy Spirit. Amen
NEW Bible Reading Ministry to those Homebound
In November, 2020, a new Ministry was approved by all three priests, The Ministry was created by St. Mary parishioner, Richard Morris II. The intention for this blessed Ministry is to share the good word of the Bible, from beginning to end, with people who are homebound for whatever reason, via phone.
Those who are homebound and would like to have the Bible read to them via phone or anyone interested in becoming a reader, should contact the parish office.
A certain “commitment” by both the reader and the person being read to, is agreed upon in the beginning. Reading the Bible in its entirety, can take 2 years plus, depending on the number of chapters read at each reading, along with the number of reading sessions per week. Hopefully, a special blessed bond will be developed between the two persons involved. Please prayerfully consider joining this new ministry!
