A reverent demeanor and a conscientious commitment to serving assignments are essential attributes of a server. This ministry is for boys and girls from 5th grade through high school.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are trained and commissioned by the bishop to assist Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (priests and deacons) in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. This ministry is a great privilege, and ministers should model to others the great love we should all have for the Eucharist. Therefore, it would seem reasonable for our EMHC to spend time in Eucharistic Adoration, especially during First Friday Adoration opportunities. This ministry is for confirmed Catholics, who are at least 16 years old and in good standing. Training sessions are required and “refresher” sessions are highly encouraged.
Ushers represent the church in a very visible way, while helping with the preparation for worship services, as well as assisting with the smooth operation during the service. Ushers greet and assist others in finding a seat, pass the baskets for the collection and help with the procession during communion.
Prayer Announcers read the announcements prior to the start of Mass as well as the intercessory prayers following the homily.
Readers serve the parish by reading the Word of the Lord with enthusiasm and willingness to be an instrument of God. Readers should strive for reading the Word of the Lord in a clear, meaningful and spiritual way. This ministry is for Confirmed Catholics, who are at least 16 years old and in good standing.
Sacristans serve the assembly by preparing various elements needed for the Mass including the sacred vessels for the Eucharistic liturgy, appropriate quantities for communion, and placement of books. Sacristans not only prepare the church for Mass they also help facilitate with other servers and place all elements back to their spots following the celebration. It can be an enjoyable way of increasing one’s knowledge, love and devotion of the Mass.
