This is just a short note from Deacon Mike Mescall to share with you a few highlights and request help on the St. Joseph Retreat and Conference Center in Tipton. He can be reached at [email protected]. I am sure that you have seen some of the new in the Catholic Moment about projects that have been taking place to clean and prepare the facility. In recent weeks the first floor received a thorough cleaning and more recently carpet cleaning has taken place along with the painting of hallways and offices on the first floor.
The furniture, fixtures, and china that you saw in the picture catalog we distributed have all been disseminated with many of our parishes and ministries of charity benefitting from this surplus.
Renovation of the chapel is progressing nicely with more work in progress.
Now we have turned our attention to the second and third floors where the bedroom and bath facilities are located. These floors now need a thorough cleaning. Over the last two weekends small teams have joined what we called the laundry brigade to clean bed linens and towels.
The next big effort, the one we could use your help with, is a weekend of cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms on November 12 and 13. If you could put a notice in your bulletin and share the information with those members of your parish that you know have been interested in support St. Joseph it would be most appreciated.
There are over 80 bedrooms with bathrooms that need to special attention in the way of dusting, carpet sweeping, bathroom scrubbing, and floor mopping, not to mention the hallways will need the same attention. We will have some cleaning items such as cleaning solutions, rags, plastic bags and trash cans, buckets and mops there are not enough to share with the number of people it will take to clean all these rooms at once. So, volunteers are encouraged to bring along carpet vacuums or shop vacs, long handled dusters, toilet bowl brushes, and small buckets with their favorite cleaning items.
